Terms of Service
The short version.
Eko Quest is free. Play fair, be decent to other players, and don't cheat. Accounts are for people aged 18 and over. In-game naira is for fun and has no real value. When cash hunts open, they'll be free to enter, with their own Official Rules, and real prizes paid to a Nigerian bank account in your name. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under Nigerian consumer protection law.

1. This agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Trigonal Technologies (RC 1808824), Suite 112-114 Adamawa Plaza, Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria ("we", "us"), the operator of Eko Quest — the game at play.ekoquest.io, this website and our related services (together, the "Game").
By playing, you agree to these terms. When you create an account, you'll be asked to accept them. Our Privacy Policy Cookies explains how we handle your personal data, and each cash hunt has its own Official Rules, which form part of these terms for that hunt. If the Official Rules for a hunt differ from these terms, the Official Rules apply to that hunt.
2. Who can play
- Anyone may play as a guest, without an account. If you're under 18, play only as a guest and with your parent's or guardian's permission.
- Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18.
- Cash hunts, the prize wallet and withdrawals are only for account holders who are 18 or over, live in Nigeria, take part from within Nigeria, have verified a Nigerian mobile number, and meet any other conditions in the Official Rules.
- One account per person. Our employees and the employees of a hunt's sponsor, and members of their households, can't win prizes in that hunt.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Google or with your e-mail address, through our sign-in provider. Keep your sign-in details safe and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens on it.
- Tell us straight away at contact@ekoquest.io if you think someone else has used your account.
- Your nickname must be 2–24 characters. It must not contain a phone number or your full real name, and it must not be offensive, impersonate someone or advertise anything. We may change or remove a nickname that breaks these rules.
- You can delete your account at any time in the game. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data, and section 7 for any wallet balance.
4. Using the game
The Game is free to play. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it for your own entertainment, under these terms.
You may not: copy, sell, rent or redistribute the Game or its content; reverse engineer it, except where the law allows; modify the game client; use bots, scripts or automation; scrape our services; get around security or rate limits; or use the Game for anything unlawful.
The Game is new and changes often. We may add, change or remove features, places, missions or events, and we may pause or end the Game. Where a change significantly affects you, we'll try to tell you in advance.
5. In-game naira and items
- The naira you earn and spend inside the game, and the items, outfits and other virtual things you collect, are part of the game. They have no real-money value. They can't be withdrawn, sold, transferred or exchanged for money or anything else, and they aren't your property.
- Your game progress is saved on your device, and on our servers if you have an account. We may reset or adjust virtual items to fix bugs, keep the game balanced or deal with cheating.
- Only real cash prizes won in cash hunts go into your prize wallet (section 7). Bonuses shown in the wallet that are marked as non-withdrawable can't be withdrawn.
- Eko Quest has no in-app purchases. Nothing you can buy improves your chance of winning a prize.
6. Cash hunts
Cash hunts are free-to-enter promotional treasure hunts in the game's version of Lagos, with real cash prizes. No purchase or payment is ever needed to take part or to win.
- Each hunt has its own Official Rules, published before it starts. They set out the hunt window, the area, the clues, the prizes, the number of winners, how winners are decided and any registration details required by Nigerian law. Read them before you join.
- Prizes go to the first eligible players to make a valid find, as the Official Rules describe. Winners are decided by our systems and checked as set out in the Official Rules; our decision on whether a claim is valid is final, subject to your rights under the law and section 20.
- Fast travel is switched off during a hunt, and our systems check that movement is possible (for example, no impossible speeds or jumps).
- We may change, pause, cancel or end a hunt early if there's a technical fault, cheating, a legal or regulatory reason, or something else outside our control. If we cancel a hunt, prizes already validly won will still be paid.
- Winners may be named — by their nickname — on live hunt pages, leaderboards and our social channels, unless they've opted out of public display. Where the law requires it, we must give a list of winners to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
- Any tax due on a prize is the winner's responsibility, unless the Official Rules say otherwise or the law requires us to deduct it.
7. Prize wallet and withdrawals
- Valid cash prizes are credited to your prize wallet in naira once your win is confirmed. The wallet is a record of prizes we owe you. It isn't a bank account or e-money account and doesn't earn interest.
- You can withdraw to a Nigerian bank account in your own name. The name the bank gives for the account must match the name on your Eko Quest account; if it doesn't match closely enough, the withdrawal goes to manual review or is refused.
- Before your first withdrawal you must verify your phone number. You can change your payout bank account once every 7 days.
- Current limits: a minimum withdrawal of ₦1,000, a daily maximum of ₦50,000, and manual review for withdrawals of ₦20,000 or more. We show the limits and any fees before you confirm, and we may change them by updating the Game.
- We currently pay the bank transfer fees and stamp duty, so you receive the full amount you withdraw.
- If a transfer fails or the bank reverses it, the amount goes back to your wallet automatically.
- We may hold, review, reverse or cancel prizes and withdrawals that result from cheating, fraud, a bug or error, a breach of these terms or the Official Rules, or a legal requirement. We'll tell you why where we're allowed to.
- If you delete your account while your wallet has a positive balance, you must first withdraw it or confirm that you give it up.
8. Fair play
Cheating spoils the game for everyone, and in cash hunts it takes money from honest players. You must not:
- use bots, scripts, macros, modified clients, emulators or tools that give an unfair advantage;
- fake your location, speed or device, or interfere with our checks;
- create or use more than one account, use someone else's account, or share, sell or buy accounts;
- share bank accounts between players, or team up to break the Official Rules;
- exploit bugs or glitches — report them to us instead;
- attack, overload or probe our systems, or try to access data that isn't yours.
If you do, we may disqualify you, cancel prizes, remove progress, and suspend or close your account (section 15).
9. How to treat other players
Other players are real people. Don't harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone; don't use hate speech or sexual content; don't share anyone's personal information; and don't impersonate others, including our staff. You can hide players from your screen and report abuse in the game. Optional features such as Street Justice have extra in-game rules you agree to when you join them.
10. What you create
You keep the rights in what you create in the Game, such as your nickname, your explorer's look, short messages and the photos you take. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and use what you make public inside the Game, on leaderboards, live hunt pages and share cards, so the Game can work. That licence ends when you remove the content or delete your account, except where it's already been shared or we must keep a record. Photos stay on your device unless you choose to share them; when you share, you're responsible for what you share and with whom.
11. Ads, brands and deals
- The Game shows advertising inside the world — on billboards, shop signs and the screens of Eko Square — never as pop-ups. Ads are from real businesses, who are responsible for their own claims and offers.
- In-game deals and coupons are offered by those businesses on their own terms. We aren't a party to anything you buy from them.
- Unless a business has an agreement with us, places in the Game appear under fictional names. Seeing a real place or brand in the Game doesn't mean it endorses us or we endorse it.
12. Our content and trademarks
The Game — its software, art, characters, story, music, voices and the name and logo "Eko Quest" — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These terms don't give you any rights in it beyond the licence in section 4. Other names and marks belong to their owners. The Game's map of Lagos is based in part on OpenStreetMap data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
13. Safety in the real world
Eko Quest is set in Lagos, and with GPS mode it can follow your real movements. Always stay aware of your surroundings. Never play while driving or riding a bike or okada, don't enter private property or unsafe places, obey traffic laws, and don't take risks to win anything. Take breaks; stop playing if you feel unwell.
14. Other services
The Game uses other companies' services — for example sign-in, Google Maps features you switch on with your own key, payment providers and radio streams. Your use of those services may also be governed by their terms. We aren't responsible for services we don't control.
15. Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close your account, remove content or withhold prizes if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Official Rules, if the law requires it, or to protect other players or the Game. Where reasonable we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You can contact us if you think we've made a mistake. If we close the Game entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and pay prizes validly won and not yet withdrawn, as long as you can still receive them under section 7.
16. The game "as is"
We work hard to keep Eko Quest fun and working, but it's provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, free of errors or bugs, or that the places, businesses, traffic, weather or other real-world information shown in it are accurate. It's a game, not a map for real journeys.
17. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Nigerian law, including under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, we aren't liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, for loss of virtual items or game progress, or for indirect losses such as loss of profit or opportunity. Our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Game is limited to the greater of ₦50,000 or the amount of any validly won prize we failed to pay you.
18. Your responsibility to us
If you break these terms deliberately or negligently and this causes us a loss — for example through cheating, fraud or misuse of our systems — you're responsible for that loss, to the extent the law allows.
19. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the Game, and you'll be asked to accept the new version before you next use account features. If you don't agree, you can stop playing and delete your account. The version and date at the top show which terms apply.
20. Disputes and the law
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- If you have a problem, contact us first at contact@ekoquest.io. We'll try to resolve it within 30 days. If we can't, either of us may refer the dispute to mediation at the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse before going to court.
- The courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction, without affecting your right to complain to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission or any other regulator, or to bring a claim where the law allows.
21. General
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over the Game, as long as your rights aren't reduced. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Official Rules are the whole agreement between us about the Game.
